I've been thinking about it a bit too much lately. <br /><br />Dad has decided he can't live with us, so he's leaving. So the blog is going to be about us and the baby. Hey, we have a name for it - "Lima Bean!" Not the real name, of course, more like a Gosh-You-Are-Still-So-Small!<br /><br />However, the question of change is this - can a person really change or are we stuck being the same way we are since we were children? I've always been an optimist, so it hasn't bothered me, but Dad's wanting this ritualistic life that we can't promise here in the States unless he decides that's what he wants and goes out to get it. He won't even take the dog for a walk! You never know which signs are real and which you have just made up for yourself because you're so hoping for the positive response in both.<br /><br />Case in point: I was nauseated last week. I was also a little weepy. My husband says, "You're preggers." That happened fast, I retorted. "Well, look where you're from," he said. "A billion people don't happen overnight!"<br /><br />But anyway, today I'm thinking I'm not pregnant. The test came out negative and I have no idea yet. He's one that hates change with a passion. Anything new freaks the heck out of him.<br /><br />I don't get it. <br /><br />If we don't have anything happening that I can look forward to that's different, my life (and mood) seems to have taken a turn for the worse. And even if what's going to happen is "bad" I tend to take an educational approach to the situation.<br /><br />I remember the day we decided we were going to have a baby. I drove from Pollock Pines to Folsom in a state of... well... hard to explain the mood. But I know I had gooseflesh all the way. Soon, the "not yet" turns into, "Well, we don't really want one. Ever."<br /><br />And then someone you know, usually a best friend, goes ahead and has a baby. And the first look at it makes you melt. Then that friend goes ga-ga over the child and coos at it while she's on the phone with you.<br /><br />And you think... hmmm.<br /><br />No? It doesn't happen like that?
